Call to Volunteers!
Bears Den is operated in a manner described by Appalachian Trail founder Benton MacKaye. A community of volunteers maintains Bears Den in many ways. They come here to retreat from hectic everyday life and rejuvenate in the outdoors. For more information on volunteering, please contact Bears Den at info@bearsdencenter.org.

Trail Maintainers
Want to blaze a trail or wield a Pulaski? The three miles of hiking trails at Bears Den are heavily used in the spring and fall. It is the dirty, physical labor that many consider fun. Clear blowdowns, paint blazes, cut brush, install water bars, clear drains, and so on.

Gardeners
Let's plant the decorative beds in front of the lodge. Who wants to till the organic garden? I've got some new ideas for landscaping the plants at the front gate entrance… Does this interest you? Bears Den has a small organic garden and many flower beds. Help plant, weed and redesign the arrangements.

Assistant Caretakers
Want to meet interesting people and hikers? Help guests and make sure they have a pleasant visit at Bears Den. Friendly people are needed to help check in guests and clean the lodge. Morning and evening shifts available.
