If private, quiet, rustic and cozy are what you're seeking, the cottage is the place to stay. Think hiker cabin! Lounge in the living room by fireplace or sit on the wooden deck and read a book in the middle of the forest. Get back to the basics.
The cottage is a 1/4 mile hike from the day use parking lot. It is about 1/2 mile from the Appalachian Trail and Bears Den Rock Overlook.
It offers simplicity-with a few modern conveniences. The cottage has electricity, but no running water. There is an outdoor privy and outdoor water spigot. The cottage is fully furnished, has a refrigerator, microwave, 2-burner propane stove and has cook- and tableware. Think of it as a hiker's cottage and an upgrade from camping.
The 600 square foot house accommodates 8 -10 people comfortably. There is one bedroom with a double bed, an overhead loft with single mattresses, two single bench seat beds, and a sleeper loveseat. A large main room has sections for seating, dining, kitchen and reading. Out back, a wooden deck is large enough for a 2-man tent or many fold out chairs. Bring your own linens/sleeping bags.
Check In: Come up to the main lodge to pick up key, check in and pay between 5-9pm. At times, prior arrangements can be made to pick up the cottage key earlier.
Check Out: Depart by 12pm. The cottage is a leave no trace facility; pack out all garbage.
The driveway gate is locked between 9pm and 8am.
